Oh my God, you guys! McConnell must be doing a happy dance. All of his work getting conservative judges appointed during Trump’s administration is starting to bear fruit.
One of “his” judges just reversed Biden’s reversal of Trump’s last minute auction of leases on oil and gas extraction on public lands designed to sabotage the incoming president’s climate change policies.
And Trump must be preening because he takes credit for everything.
Okay, let’s back up a bit and review. I know that it’s really painful to cast our minds back to the Dark Ages that was the Trump administration but…
Hey, remember Ken Paxton, the Attorney General of Texas? Ya know, the one who filed a lawsuit in the Supreme Court in December of 2020 trying to get the results of the 2020 presidential election overthrown in four states?
Yeah, him. Well, guess what? He’s up for re-election in 2022 and you will never guess in a million years who is challenging him in the primaries — George P. Bush!
Son of former Florida governor and 2016 presidential candidate Jeb “low energy” Bush
Nephew of former President George W. Bush
Grandson of former President George H.W. Bush
I wrote an article a few days ago criticizing Vice President Kamala Harris’ handling of the media during her first foreign trip. Check out the comments section. It got a little heated.
Harris fans thought that I was way off base in my criticism. One commenter even accused me of racism.
But if you read my article carefully, you will see that for me her poor performance was further evidence of her unfitness as vice president, something that I have written about a few times.
Texas Gov. Gregg Abbott, announced on June 10 that his state will build a wall spanning its border with Mexico to stop the overwhelming flow of illegal migrants crossing into Texas from that country.
He blamed President Biden’s failed immigration policies for the humanitarian crisis at the border.
Why is it always Texas?
Threats of secession? Texas. No license required to carry your rifle while running errands? Texas. Continue building Trump’s wall? Texas.
It’s always Texas.
Before you start getting hot under the collar, it’s probably not legal for a state to build a border wall. …
Midterm elections often favor the party that is out of power, in this case the Republican Party, which has lost its soul after a hostile takeover by Trump and Trumpism.
Democrats had been eyeing the midterm elections with much trepidation, afraid of losing their scary slim majorities in the House and the Senate.
I say “had been” in the past tense because the results of a few 2021 races have raised Democratic hopes of prevailing in the midterms.
I think that it’s a little early to be celebrating. I don’t hear any singing by body positive cis-gender females.
The Democratic Party is all abuzz with the news that Rep. Val Demings of Florida has decided to challenge Republican Sen. Marco Rubio in the 2022 midterms.
She has been described as a “top tier candidate.” An unnamed “national Democrat” said “Val is an impressive and formidable candidate whose potential entrance would make the race against Rubio highly competitive.”
On paper, she does look quite impressive. She’s on the Judiciary, Intelligence, and Homeland Security committees. She was one of the impeachment managers for Trump’s first impeachment. She was on Biden’s shortlist for vice president. …
Vice President Harris embarked on a two day trip to Guatemala and Mexico to discuss the root causes of migration to the US. While we don’t know what went on behind closed doors with the leaders of those two countries, we do know what transpired at her press conferences.
They did not go well.
Which is kind of an understatement.
In Guatemala, she issued a warning to would-be migrants:
“I want to be clear to folks in this region who are thinking about making that dangerous trek to the United States-Mexico border: Do not come. Do not come. …
I’m a little late to the Joe Manchin Bashing Party. But better late than never, right?
In his article, Kean opines that Manchin might be suffering from dementia. He bases this on Manchin’s facial expressions which Kean describes thus:
“He has the same blank, even confused, stare that my beloved grandmother (God rest her soul) had as she slowly slipped off into the confines of her mind with dementia. …
My first thought was, will she change her views on maternity leave? How about juggling a career and a family?
Stefanik was elected as a moderate Republican to the House in 2014. She represents an upstate New York district. In case you are wondering how a Republican can get elected in a blue state, New York is only blue in the New York City environs. The rest of the state is more conservative.
Hey, remember that rant I published about Biden undermining his VP by giving her impossible assignments? Well, the New York Times has weighed in with their take on the situation.
Their opinion is that Harris requested the immigration issue to fill out her resume which is sorely lacking in foreign affairs experience. And she more recently requested the voting rights issue so that she can barnstorm the country and make connections with Democrats who will support her next bid for president.
That’s a lot to digest. Let’s break it down.
First of all, who in their right mind would request…
