A Sad Day For America

Biden announces he is running for re-election

I well remember election night 2016. Sitting in front of the television watching Trump win state after state. The anchors trying desperately to find a path to victory for Hillary through the states that had yet to be called.

I gave up early and went to bed, but still with a glimmer of hope that a miracle would happen and Hillary would somehow win enough states to prevent Trump from winning the election.

I woke up the next morning to the bad news that there was no miracle and we now had a shady businessman with no political or governing experience as president.

I felt that way again last night. For days, the media had been reporting that Biden would make his announcement that he was running for re-election today, April 25, 2023, four years to the day when he announced he was running for president in 2019.

I went to bed last night, hoping once more for a miracle. A miracle that would have Biden announce that he was not running for re-election and endorsing his vice president, Kamala Harris, for president instead.

Ah, if only.

Doing that would have unleashed a wave of Democrats, eagerly throwing their hats into the ring. Voters would have had…
