A Year-End Message to My Readers (2023 Edition)
It’s been a roller coaster year
I’m not a fan of roller coasters. Acrophobia (fear of heights) and all that. The one time I did get on one, a very small one, I was so terrified that my life really did flash in front of my eyes. That’s kinda how this year has been for all of us. So many ups and downs, most of them terrifying.
Let’s take a look.
We started off the year with the House trying to elect a speaker. Four days and fifteen ballots later, Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) was finally speaker, only to have it snatched away from him nine months later.
But it got worse. It took three weeks and four nominees before the House elected his successor, Mike Johnson (R-La.). A MAGA moron, through and through, Johnson is carefully walking a tightrope trying to keep all the Republican factions happy. Good luck keeping MTG in line.
Now let’s look at the Republican primary.
That was the most surprising for me. Trump started off the year slowly fading away. I was sure that we had seen the last of him. Then he was indicted and rose from the ashes like a demented phoenix. Four indictments. 91 felony counts. And with each indictment, his popularity grew.
