Actually, the Democratic leadership is all too aware. Biden just refuses to step aside. Personally, I think the leadership should tell him that if he doesn't step aside, they will have an open primary and invite other Democrats to challenge him for the nomination. Then he can either make up a some bogus excuse and step aside or be humiliated in the primaries and lose the nomination.
