Trump’s Transition Team Has Been Holding Up The Transition
Sigh. What was that I said about teaching old dogs new tricks? Turns out Trump is a one-trick pony. Yeah, he got the appointment of his Chief of Staff right, but everything else is going to hell in a handbasket.
Take the transition, for instance. As Trump learned the first time around, the presidency isn’t a job that you can just stroll into the Oval Office on Inauguration Day, sit down at the Resolute desk and get to work. There are a ton of things that have to be done first, like allocating office space, assigning email addresses, and lotsa other IT stuff.
As a former IT professional, I can tell you that onboarding even one new employee takes a few days from setting up their equipment, programming their laptops, and to getting them onto the company’s computer systems. Now add on to that, government stuff like security clearances and access to sensitive information, and the files of the government agencies that will be under the administration’s control.
Takes about two and half months from start to finish.
Fortunately, there is a formal process for getting all of those details done. Memoranda of understanding are signed and due by September 1, in other words before the election is even held, so that the process can…
