Are Republicans Destroying Our Democracy?
Their efforts to punish their enemies and change history worry me
I’m worried, you guys. I don’t like what I am seeing going on in the House. And I don’t think it’s a case of Speaker McCarthy being railroaded by the radical members of his party.
Nope, I think it’s more an erosion of our democracy.
The censure of Adam Schiff of California, who was the impeachment manager of Trump’s first impeachment and then served on the committee investigating the events of January 6, tweaked my antenna.
Punishing perceived political enemies is not how we do things.
Censure has only been used in the House 24 times in its history, so it shouldn’t be taken lightly. It’s usually used after a finding of wrongdoing.
But Schiff didn’t do anything wrong. He led the impeachment of a criminal president and then participated in the investigation of the attempt to overturn the results of a presidential election by that same criminal president.
Schiff held his head high as he was censured.
