Blatantly breaking the law like this is only done by the very rich. The rest of us have to obey the laws or suffer the consequences.

I don't think the crimes Trump is accused of are federal offenses. I think they are state offenses. And the Manhattan DA did have an investigation going in parallel to the AG. A grand jury had been seated. But then the DA, Cyrus Vance, Jr., decided not to run for re-election and his successor, Alvin Bragg, dropped the investigation to pursue his social justice agenda instead. The lead attorneys on the Trump case quit in disgust.
