CA Gov. Newsom Has Challenged FL Gov. DeSantis to a Debate
DeSantis has accepted and I can’t figure out why
What the hell is Ron DeSantis doing? Is he deliberately sabotaging his campaign for president? Or is he regressing in his emotional development and reverted to the Terrible Twos?
Cuz it sure seems like he is doing the opposite of what he should be doing if he genuinely wants to win the Republican nomination.
Take his obsession with Trump, for instance. Trying to out-Trump Trump made perfect sense when Trump was down and out after the disaster (from the Republican point of view) that was the 2022 midterm elections.
Trumpism without the whining and self-pity.
But when Trump’s popularity rose with each new indictment, doubling down on a strategy of extremism didn’t make any sense. With each new poll showing Trump pulling farther and farther ahead, DeSantis passed more and more draconian laws in Florida.
Floridians started moving out of the state to get away from a governor who seemed to be losing touch with reality. Honestly, he’s beginning to remind me of Putin, passing ridiculous laws that have no basis in reality.
