Democrats Don’t Want Biden to Debate Trump
They think he can’t hack it
Biden’s re-election campaign continues to stumble. Let us count the ways. First there was his insistence that he campaign on the success of Bidenomics because the economic numbers have improved so much.
The problem with Bidenomics is that the macro-economic numbers may have improved, but voters’ financial situations haven’t improved. Grocery prices are still high. Interest rates on credit cards are still high. Rent is still high. Housing prices and mortgage rates are still high. Until those numbers start to come down or voters’ income starts to go up, no one wants to hear about Bidenomics. It’s not working for them.
Then someone managed to talk Biden into campaigning on Trump being a danger to democracy. Yeah, we know that he’s a danger to democracy. So, you’re preaching to the choir. Trump immediately started counter-programming that Biden is a danger to democracy.
So, here’s the problem with this strategy. Biden voters know that Trump is a danger to democracy. They don’t need to be convinced. Trump’s cult “knows” that Biden is a danger to democracy cuz their god tells them so. They won’t be convinced otherwise. So, campaigning on Trump being a danger to democracy isn’t going to work.
