Democrats Panicking Over Manchin Running For President
They’ve suddenly realized that he could cost Biden a second term
Boy, that New York Times/Siena College poll showing Trump way ahead of Biden has the Democrats worried. They have suddenly awakened to the danger of Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) resigning from the Senate and running for president on a No Labels ticket.
Oh, so now they realize that a Biden candidacy is not a good idea. Hell, we could have told them that months ago. But, instead of discreetly asking Biden to resign from the race, they are instead trying to protect him and his failing race for president by trying to prevent Manchin from challenging him and possibly siphoning away votes.
That sounds like something Republicans would do.
In the words of Steve Jarding, a Democratic strategist:
“He could swing that race in one direction or the other. If there’s a significant portion of Americans that were either going to stay home … or want to take their frustration out, [Manchin] could get votes.”
Well, duh.
