I’m wondering if it’s because he hasn’t done any actual campaigning, just hiding out at Mar-a-Lago and taping stuff for release. Videos can be edited. He can do stuff over and over again until he gets it right. He won’t be able to do that once he starts doing live events. His deterioration is really noticeable now and that may turn the polls in DeSantis’ or someone else’s favor. It’s a long time in political time until the primaries.
