DeSantis’ Poll Numbers Have Tanked
Turns out the nation doesn’t want to be Florida
Well, it finally happened. It was really just a matter of time. My DDS (DeSantis Derangement Syndrome) has intersected with my love of polls.
They didn’t just intersect. It was a high speed, head-on collision that has put Ronnie’s campaign on life support. Vis-à-vis Trump, that is.
Ronnie announced on May 24, in a most creative fashion, that he is running for president. Yahoo/YouGov cranked up their polling machinery the following day and began dialing up voters. 1,525 to be exact. They dialed until their fingers bled from May 25 to May 30.
And in the end, it was worth the blood, sweat, and not a few tears. Trump’s lead has increased. Earlier in May, Trump led DeSantis 50% to 36%. Post announcement, Trump leads DeSantis 55% to 31%.
That’s in a head-to-head matchup. Throw all the declared candidates into the mix and Trump’s lead over DeSantis (and the rest of the field) went from 48% to 28% in early May to 53% to 25% after DeSantis announced.
Why is DeSantis losing ground against Trump? Well, I hate to brag, but I kinda predicted this. Voters are taking a look at what DeSantis has done in Florida and they are not impressed.
