While Trump has been dominating the headlines with his trials, throwing our NATO allies to the (Russian) wolves, and … did you hear the latest? His inner circle is urging him to give the Republican response to Biden’s State of the Union address in March.

Yes, please! Anything to get Trump on the national stage spouting nonsense. I know that he would be giving a prepared speech, but he never sticks to his speeches. He always wanders off script and off topic. It would be lovely. So far, Trump doesn’t think it’s a good idea.

Also, the decision on who gives the response is made by the Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson (R-La.) and the Senate Minority Leader, Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.). Mikey would love to see Trump giving the response, but McConnell would rather eat glass than give Trump a high-profile gig like that.
