Harris is Ahead in the Polls
So why is she hiding?
Newsweek is breathlessly reporting that in the latest Marquette Law School poll, Harris is leading Trump by eight points. That’s with third party candidates included. She leads 50% over Trump’s 42%. In a head-to-head matchup with Trump, she leads 52% to Trump’s 48%.
We are almost in “commanding lead” territory here. Except that it’s just one poll. If you look at an average of the polls, Harris is still locked in a statistical tie with Trump, 48% to 47%.
But let’s say that the Marquette poll is correct and Harris has pulled way ahead of Trump in the race. The question in my mind is why is she hiding? Since her endorsement by Biden, she has not given a single interview or held any press conferences.
Her campaign says that she is just too damn busy, holding (scripted) rallies, choosing a running mate, planning a convention, all the usual stuff that presidential candidates do, albeit on a very compressed timeline.
Except that most politicians haven’t met a camera that they didn’t love. They are all over the place holding press conferences with the international media, doing interviews with all the famous interviewers, news anchors, and late-night hosts. Politicians always find time to talk about themselves. They love talking about themselves.
