He Said What?
Biden’s surprising farewell address
So I sat down on the couch last night to watch Biden’s farewell address. I didn’t bother making popcorn. It’s not needed for an old man’s reminisces about his career. I figured I was in for a boring 15 minutes of “My Fabulous Career and How I Could Have Beaten Trump.”
And it was pretty much that. Except for the beat Trump part. Fortunately someone talked him out of it. I wonder how many drafts the writers went through before they were allowed to take that bit out?
And what the hell was that bit about the Statue of Liberty? Other than the quick tie-in at the very end of his speech, it was a total non sequitur.
We did have to suffer through a recap of his exploits during his four-year career as president. I say “we” although I’m not sure how many people other than Jillie, Kamala, Doug, and myself were watching. There haven’t been any audience figures for his speech, probably because they were so embarrassingly low.
Then he said:
“I want to warn the country of some things that give me great concern.”
Oh, shit. Here we go. An old man ranting about how things were better when he was young.
