House Republicans Are Sneaking Abortion Language Into Legislation
Senate Democrats are stripping it out
God bless Republicans. They just don’t know how to leave well enough alone. Thanks to the Orange Menace, they got their conservative Supreme Court and the repeal of Roe v. Wade.
But that’s not good enough for them.
It’s not enough that the majority of state legislatures are controlled by Republicans and can restrict abortion right out of existence using extreme measures like a ban on interstate travel for pregnant women seeking abortions in other states (Idaho) and even bounties on their heads if they seek abortion care (Texas).
Maybe Congressional Republicans are just jealous that their state counterparts get to have all the fun of depriving women of reproductive healthcare and want to get in on the action. It’s the only excuse that I can think of for their new game of “Let’s Ban Abortion on the Sly.”
Yep, House Republicans are sneaking abortion riders into other bills. They’re doing stuff like trying to reverse an FDA decision to allow mifepristone to be dispensed by pharmacies in an agriculture bill.
