How to Stop Trump
The power of “no”
I saw a story in the news the other day that made me chuckle. It wasn’t meant to be humorous, but I found it amusing. See how you feel about it:
Ellen L. Weintraub, the chairwoman of the Federal Election Commission, received a short letter signed by Trump telling her that she was “hereby removed” from the commission.
Here’s what made me chuckle:
She ignored it and went on about her day.
“There’s a perfectly legal way for him to replace me. But just flat-out firing me, that is not it.”
The reason this struck me as funny is because everyone else who has received letters, emails or Trump posts on Truth Social firing them has panicked and, more importantly, considered themselves fired.
Like Weintraub, they are not fired. Trump either doesn’t have the power to do it or is not following the correct procedure. And no one is calling him out on it. Just imagine if everyone that he has “fired” ignored it like Weintraub. Ya know, something like this:
“You can’t fire me with an executive order/letter/email/Truth Social post. There’s a process/union/law. Now, please leave because I have work to do. And close the door on your way out.”
