I had a "Fall of Rome" feeling when Trump was elected in 2016. I was briefly hopeful when Biden won in 2020 but with the gridlock on Congress and state Republicans passing voter suppression laws and gerrymandering districts, I've lost all hope.

I feel lucky because I am a senior citizen and won't live long enough to experience the full horrors of the end of our country. My heart goes out to young people who face a bleak future.
