I worked my way through college, working both during the academic year and summers and graduated with no debt.

What I don't understand is how supposedly intelligent people can sign loan documents year and year and then be "surprised" that they have to pay all that money back after they graduate.

What needs to happen is for students and their families to refuse to attend schools with unreasonable costs. Colleges and universities would have to lower their ridiculous tuitions if everyone refused to pay them. It's simple economics.
