If he runs, Trump will be the Republican candidate. The problem, as I see it, is that the Democrats have no one who can beat him.

If DeSantis is the candidate, same problem.

So I see the Democrats as having the problem, not Republicans. Their candidate is already chosen, whether he is worthy or not.
