Is the Trump-Musk Bromance Over?
Trump is starting to complain
New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman is reporting that Trump is complaining about Musk being around “a lot.” Musk, the world’s richest man … or is that Bezos? … I can’t keep track … is literally living at Mar-a-Lago.
He’s not just visiting all the time, he’s renting a $2,000 per night cottage just a few hundred feet from Trump’s home/country club. So he can … and apparently does … pop in all the time.
At first, Trump was cool with it. Musk contributed a quarter of a billion dollars … that’s $250 million … to Trump’s election campaign. Trump always likes spending other people’s money rather than his own. Especially because he doesn’t want anyone to know how little money he actually has.
Musk has attended meetings and joined phone calls with world and corporate leaders. Trump liked showing off his pet billionaire. He liked it less when the pundits started referring to Musk as “President Musk.”
Trump can’t tolerate any criticism, real or perceived. He’s very thin-skinned. Instead of laughing it off, Trump got defensive. Saying Musk couldn’t be president because he wasn’t born in this country. That he, Trump, had won the election, not Musk.
