Will the fines and business penalties imposed by Judge Engoron cost Trump his wealth and power?
Judge Arthur F. Engoron has spoken. Disgusted by Trump and his sons’ complete lack of “contrition and remorse” for their crimes, Engoron imposed gigantic fines and restrictions on the business dealings of Trump and his two oldest sons.
Let’s take a look at the penalties imposed by Engoron.
New York Attorney General Letitia James had asked for a fine of $370 million. Engoron imposed a fine of $354,868,768, representing the profits banks and financial institutions could have made if they had not lent funds to Trump. Engoron also fined Trump for lost interest on that amount, bringing the total financial penalty to almost $450 million.
Don Jr. and Eric were fined $4 million each, and ex-Trump Organization Chief Financial Officer Allen Weisselberg was fined $1 million.
Trump and his two oldest sons are also banned from serving in top roles in any company based in New York. Trump, for three years, and his sons for 2 years. Weisselberg was also barred from serving as an officer or director of any New York corporation or other legal entity for three years.
