Joe Manchin Is Setting the Stage for Trump’s Re-Election

He will probably run as the No Labels candidate in 2024

Joe Manchin just dealt a death blow to Biden’s chances for re-election. He says that “he is ‘thinking seriously’ about leaving the Democratic Party and declaring himself an independent before the 2024 election.” Which is political speak for “I don’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of being re-elected as a senator, so I’m going to take No Labels up on their offer of running as a third-party candidate in 2024.”

Biden, of course, needs every Democratic vote and as many Independent votes as possible in 2024 to win re-election but it’s not looking good. More than half of Democrats say that they don’t want him to run.

Given a choice between Manchin as a third party candidate and Biden, I think that enough Democrats and Independents will choose Manchin, because they don’t want to vote for Biden again, to throw the election to Trump.

The thought of a second Trump term sends shivers down my spine.
