Kay Granger Was Missing And No One Noticed

Another rant about the tyranny of the elderly in our government

If a Congressional Republican goes M.I.A., where do you look for them? The nearest drug dealer? Strip club? Or, in a lot of cases, the nearest high school? That’s if it’s a missing man. Where do you look for that rare specimen, the Republican female congressional member? The kitchen, maybe?

Turns out, in the case of Republican Rep. Kay Granger of Texas, it wasn’t the kitchen. She has been living in a memory care facility since July with dementia. July, by the way, is the last time that she cast a vote.

What’s weird is that no one seems to have missed her. Republicans have such a slim majority in the House that you would think that someone would have noticed that they were constantly one vote short in all of their totals. It took her son announcing where she was living and why for anyone to notice that she was gone.

But that’s not what I want to write about today. You have probably already guessed that I am once more going to rant about the tyranny of the elderly in our government. They have no incentive to retire and no desire to retire. We are stuck with them whether we like it or not.
