Lindsey Graham Isn’t Trump-y Enough
Are we seeing the end of Trumpism?
Hey, you remember Lindsey Graham, right? Way back in 2016 he denounced Trump as
“He’s a race-baiting, xenophobic, religious bigot … He doesn’t represent my [Republican] party … I don’t think he has a clue about anything … He is empowering radical Islam … You know how you make America great again? Tell Donald Trump to go to hell.”
After Trump was elected, Graham became his BFF, playing golf with him every weekend. Remember how much golf Trump played his first time in office?
After the insurrection, Trump went into exile at Mar-a-Lago. Good ol’ Linds knew exactly what to do. He headed down to Mar-a-Lago, had his picture taken with Trump so everyone would know where he was and played a few rounds with the disheartened ex-president.
Next thing we knew, all the Republicans were making pilgrimages to Mar-a-Lago to kiss Trump’s ring and Trump was back in business … I should say, back in political business.
Why am I digging up all of this ancient history? Well, Graham is running for re-election next year. He has a war chest of $15.6 million, and has easily beaten all of his opponents since 2002 when he was elected to replace Sen. Strom Thurmond who was retiring, having turned 100 years old.
