The Grim Reaper is back. Ya know how you can tell? Cuz he’s holding up the judicial nominations of a Democratic president. Again.

Remember back in March 2016 when Justice Antonin Scalia died and Obama nominated Merrick Garland to replace him? And Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), aka the Grim Reaper, refused to consider his nomination because it was too close to the 2016 presidential election?

McConnell, of course, reversed himself in September 2020 when Trump, a Republican president, nominated Amy Coney Barrett to replace the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Justice Coney Barrett was confirmed literally weeks before the 2020 presidential election.

Well, McConnell is at it again, this time with a slightly different excuse.

As we all know, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) has been absent from the Senate for weeks due complications from shingles. She sits on the Judiciary Committee, which vets judicial appointments. Her absence is preventing any of Biden’s judicial appointments from being reviewed by the committee.
