My Predictions For the First Presidential Debate

The debate between the two geezers … sorry, presidential candidates … is drawing closer. The ground rules have been established and how the evening will shape up is coming into focus.

Which means it’s time for me to get a little snarky.

Both candidates have chosen to stand behind lecterns. For 90 minutes. Can they do it? Trump likes to project, so all those accusations of Biden taking drugs when he delivered his latest State of the Union address means that Trump will be hopped up on drugs to keep him on his feet. As for Biden, whatever he did to keep himself sprightly for the SOTU address this year, he should do again.

A coin toss was performed with the winner either choosing the position of his lectern or delivering the last closing statement. Biden won the coin toss and opted to choose the position of his lectern. He chose to be on the right side of viewers’ screens because people are drawn to the person on the right and view them as more powerful.

I’m sure that Trump thinks Biden was a sucker for choosing lectern position rather than giving the last closing statement. He is still smarting from his trial where the prosecution got to give their closing statement last (standard legal practice). In his childish…
