New Georgia Law Forces Police to Arrest and Detain Anyone Suspected of Being Here Illegally

Municipalities who don’t enforce this law will lose funding

Is outrage fatigue a thing? Cuz I think that I’m suffering from it. I read this little gem about the Georgia legislature passing a new law that “allows” … more like compels … police to arrest anyone who they suspect is here illegally and detain them for deportation.

There are so many things wrong with that. And normally it would inspire an impassioned rant but I gotta be honest. I just don’t have the energy anymore. I’m worn out. I got nothin’ left.

I should be outraged that a civilian police force is being forced … well, it is Georgia, so maybe they don’t have to be forced … to take on the duties of the federal border police and stop anyone who they think might be here illegally.

What are the criteria? They “look” Hispanic? They are speaking Spanish? They are carrying a suspicious backpack? Seriously, I want to know on what basis police … who should be protecting citizens from real criminals … will be stopping and detaining possible illegal immigrants.

I’m pretty sure there is a name for this: racial profiling.
