Republicans Find a New Way to Disenfranchise Voters

Just kick out their elected representatives

Did you see that Republicans have found a new way to rob minority groups of the vote? Just kick their elected representatives out of the government. Easy peasy.

Let’s set the stage. There was yet another mass shooting, this time at a private school in Tennessee. Three students and three adults were killed.

In the state legislature, three duly elected representatives, two young Black men and one older, white woman, all Democrats who represent constituents in the cities of Nashville, Memphis, and Knoxville, staged a protest in the legislative chamber demanding action on gun control.

This upset the staid, white, mostly male, Republican majority, especially when the protestors used a megaphone while speaking.

Cuz sometimes you have to talk louder to get the attention of assholes.

Now that we know the background, let’s see what the majority Republican legislature did about three of their colleagues doing their job and trying to communicate the wishes of their constituents.
