Republicans Want to Defund the Manhattan D.A.
They are desperate to stop the prosecution of Trump
Hey, remember when the Democrats were all “Keep our communities safe. Defund the police.” What they really meant was let’s keep people of color safe in our communities and use some of the local police budgets for social workers and mental health professionals to defuse situations and get citizens help instead of killed.
And the Republicans were all up in arms imagining that local police forces would be reduced to a few officers directing traffic and showing up on Career Day in the schools.
Well, the worm has turned.
Now it’s the Republicans who want to defund the legal system and the Democrats who are all up in arms about it.
How the hell did we get here?
Trump, of course. One weekend, he announced that he was going to be arrested on the following Tuesday, and first thing Monday morning, the chairpersons of three, count them, three House committees fired off letters to Alvin Bragg, the Manhattan district attorney, demanding he turn over “all communications” he has had with both local and federal law enforcement agencies and ordering him to show up to testify.
