RNC Setting Criteria to Qualify For the Primary Debates

They are adding donor numbers to the polling numbers

I know it may sound like it’s a long way off, but the RNC is already setting the qualifications for the participants of their first primary debate in August.

Also, it takes the attention off Trump for a millisecond.

So, just a quick review. There were no Republican primary debates in the 2020 election cycle because the RNC threw its support behind Trump. Some states showed their allegiance to the president by canceling their primaries, while others changed their primaries to winner-take-all.

Trump won every single primary against his challengers and won every single delegate except one going into the convention.

2016 was a completely different story. You may remember those primary debates. There were so many candidates that they didn’t all fit on to one stage, so the debates were split in two.

The top ten candidates, polling 3% or higher, debated each other during prime time. The rest debated earlier in the evening, earning the derisive nickname of “undercard.”

2024 promises to be similar with five declared candidates, including Trump, and another five Republicans expected…
