Schools Are Preparing For ICE Raids
They are counting on ICE agents to be reasonable
It seems I was being a little prescient last month when I predicted that ICE agents would be showing up at schools. I was thinking of American-born children of undocumented people who were being deported. I wasn’t thinking of the undocumented children of undocumented people who are currently enrolled in American schools.
Mainly because of where I live. Even Texans aren’t cruel enough to bus people to … shudder … New Jersey. Better they be shot in Manhattan or freeze to death in Chicago than to be subjected to the tender mercies of New Jerseyans.
Since Trump was elected, attendance in schools with large populations of undocumented children has plummeted. Their parents are afraid to send them to school, preferring to keep them close to home.
The administrators of said schools, on the other hand, are trying to convince the parents to send their children to school because they have protocols in place to protect them.
My favorite? New York City which has told the principals of its schools to tell ICE agents to wait outside the schools while they call a school district lawyer.
What’s that old expression? ROFLMAO, rolling on the floor laughing my ass off. Cuz does anyone honestly…
