I was all set to write an article about Trump’s indictment by the Justice Department in connection with the documents case. My thesis was going to be that I am the only person in the entire country who is not excited, one way or the other, that Trump has been indicted and is being charged with 37 felony counts.

In case you haven’t noticed, there seems to be a little competition going on between the New York DA and the DOJ. In New York, Trump is charged with 34 counts, while the DOJ did a little one-upmanship and charged him 37 times.

I look for my amusement wherever I can find it.

The reason why I am not uncorking the champagne is that Trump may be charged, but he will never see the inside of a jail cell. He seemingly leads a charmed life and gets away with everything.

In this case, he will use the same playbook that he has used since he was a budding real estate magnate and delay, delay, delay. If convicted (highly unlikely — we’ll get to that in a minute), he will appeal, appeal, appeal, all the way up to the Supreme Court, if necessary.
