Should We Be Worried About Trump’s Threats?
Once he is back in office, there will be no stopping him
Trump’s been making some pretty absurd threats lately. Military tribunals against Obama. He’s really hung up on Obama, isn’t he?
More military tribunals against the House committee that investigated the January 6 insurrection. Prosecuting President Biden, Vice President Harris and former Speaker of the House Pelosi.
According to Trump, prosecuting them is “legitimate revenge” for his own legal cases for which he blames Biden.
And there’s more, but it all boils down to bringing the law down on anyone that he perceives as an enemy.
Normally … as in judging by his first term … we could all have a good laugh and then get on with our lives. We know that the Justice Department is independent of the president. He can’t use it as his own personal law firm, going after anyone who crosses him.
But that was back when there were still grown-ups working in the White and the Justice Department. People who were willing to stand up to him, to say no to him, and keep the norms and customs not to mention the laws, that safeguard our democracy.
When Trump entered office he had no idea how the government, or even the presidency, functioned. He…
