Sorry, but you are forgetting your history. The Constitution was written to replace the Articles of Confederation which gave all the power to the states. The Constitution was written and passed to give power to the federal government and severely limit the powers of the states. Slave-owning states were unhappy about all that federal power and fought a civil war over it. They lost. The power of the federal government over the states was affirmed. Red states are illegally passing laws that are contrary to federal law which is unconstitutional.
