Speaker McCarthy Refuses to Endorse Trump
House Republicans are split in their support of Trump
Kevin McCarthy has a big orange problem. Yep, Trump, who claims credit for getting McCarthy the job of House Speaker, expects a rousing endorsement in return. So far, McCarthy has remained mum.
Well … not exactly. He did have that little slip-up during an interview with CNBC back in June. When asked if he thought that Trump will win the 2024 election against Biden, McCarthy replied:
“Can he win that election? Yeah he can. The question is, is he the strongest to win the election — I don’t know that answer.”
Oops. The first rule in Trump world is never speak ill of Trump. Trump is always the best, the smartest, the richest, and the best-looking in the entire world. And he plays golf better than anyone, including the pros.
McCarthy did a lot of dancing around, blaming the media, and rewriting history and got back into Trump’s good graces.
But still no endorsement.
The fact of the matter is that McCarthy can’t endorse Trump. Or anyone else in the race. His majority in the House is razor thin, so he can’t afford to piss off any Republicans. He has to stay in everyone’s good graces.
