Why doesn’t Congress say “no” to Trump?

Trump has some hugely expensive programs, such as mass deportations and extending his tax cut for the wealthy, he wants to pass. Congress is scrambling to figure out how to fund them.

Apparently it never occurred to anyone to simply say “no” to Trump. Not even “can you be a little more reasonable?” Nope, it’s what Trump wants, Trump gets, no matter how absurd.

Congress has come up with a list of 50 ways they can save money to fund Trump’s dreams. You can read the list here. I’m not going to go into every single one, just some of the ones that I think are either completely ridiculous or will actively harm or even kill people.

Work Requirements for Medicaid — This is an oldie, but goodie. Republicans are firmly convinced that everyone on the dole is a shirker. They should be working and earning their benefits. It never seems to occur to the esteemed members of Congress that maybe these “shirkers” are unable to work. They have disabilities, chronic illnesses or addictions. That’s why their income is low enough to qualify for Medicaid.

Look, no one WANTS to be on Medicaid. The coverage is shitty and the doctors and hospitals who will actually take Medicaid are severely limited. But if you impose work requirements for…
