Texas AG Overturns Judicial Ruling Allowing an Abortion

Hey, you know where we haven’t visited lately? Texas. Let’s take a look at what’s going on there. I promise that you will love it. Or rather, hate it.

Kate Cox, who has the misfortune of living in Texas and becoming pregnant with a fetus with fatal abnormalities, sued to abort her baby. The fetus has been diagnosed with trisomy 18, which is a condition where the fetus has three copies of chromosome 18 resulting in heart defects and other organ defects.

Babies with trisomy 18 either die in utero or soon after birth. There is no “cure.” Complicating matters is the fact that Ms. Cox has had two cesarean surgeries already from giving birth to two normal, full-term babies. This pregnancy if carried to term could cause her physical harm such as a uterine rupture.

Or, she might have to have a hysterectomy. No woman wants that and in this case, Ms. Cox and her husband both want to have more children.

Texas, as we all remember, is one of those states with a six-week abortion ban. There are exceptions to that law such as if the mother’s life is in danger or she is in danger of “substantial and irreversible physical impairment of a major bodily…
