Well, here’s something that you don’t see every day — a Texas judge reversing a book ban. Could it have something to do with the fact that he is an Obama appointee?

We’ll get to that in a minute. First, let’s take a look at what prompted the ban.

A group of the usual conservative assholes living and stirring up trouble in Llano County, Texas, demanded that books they deemed as “pornographic filth” … which were actually books on LGBTQ+ topics or by authors of color who write about Black history, racism, or their own experiences as Black Americans … be removed from the shelves of the three-library system in the county.

The libraries complied. What else do you do when the county commissioners dissolve the library board and replace it with a “Library Advisory Board” composed of the very same people who wanted books removed from library shelves?

This new board instituted a policy whereby they have to approve all new books before they go on library shelves. And to make their jobs as easy as possible, librarians are banned from their meetings.

You can’t make this shit up.
