The Alabama State Legislature Is Defying a SCOTUS Decision

They are refusing the court ordered creation of a second Black voting district

How far are Republicans willing to go to make sure that they win elections? They are willing to defy the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court that their overlords … aka the Heritage Foundation … packed with conservative justices.

Cuz sometimes those justices get it wrong.

Let’s take a look at what is going on in … surprise! … Alabama. I know that you thought I was going to say Texas, because it’s always Texas, but not this time.

This time it’s Alabama versus the Voting Rights Act. No, that’s not the name of the court case, just an accurate description of the problem.

Alabama has a predominantly white Republican legislature that has the responsibility of drawing voting maps.

You see where this is going, right?

And in their infinite wisdom, these white Republicans, who live in a state that is 27% African American, drew a voting map that had six mainly white districts and only 1 district that was majority Black.

They got sued. Naturally. The lower court, which is made up of three judges, two of whom were
