The Much Anticipated Red State v. Blue State Debate
It was a waste of popcorn
I fell out of love last night. Regular readers know that I have had an enormous crush on California governor Gavin Newsom. I just loved his style. TV ads trolling Ron DeSantis while he was running for re-election as Florida’s governor. Billboards in Texas advertising abortion services in California. Passing a law in California putting a bounty on gun buyers similar to the bounty in Texas on women and their doctors.
This is the kind of creative and forward thinking that the moribund Democratic Party desperately needs. I was certain that Gav was going to lead the way to the political future, much like his own state has always lead the nation in new laws and regulations.
When Gav challenged Florida governor Ron DeSantis to a debate, I was giddy with excitement. It was billed as a debate between Red States and Blue States, so I naturally assumed … and you know what happens when you assume … that it would be a debate about governing philosophies.
I was eager to hear how Ronnie was going to defend governing as the fascist leader of a backwards dystopian state as opposed to Gav governing a state like California where the future of our culture and beliefs is formed.
