The Republican majority is only a few votes. If McCarthy is voted out, the Republicans may fragment and not have a majority to vote in a replacement. The Speaker doesn't have to be a Republican. If the Democrats remain united behind their leader, Hakeem Jeffries, he could become the next Speaker. So, yes, the Democrats have an incentive to get rid of McCarthy as long as there is no likely candidate to replace him.
