Time to make up your scorecard

I think at this point in time, it’s safe to say that Trump has sewn up the Republican nomination. I know, I know, he is still facing four indictments and 91 felony charges, but face it, if any of those cases goes to trial before the election and results in a conviction, it will just make Trump more popular.

In the eyes of his cult members, he won’t have been convicted, he will have been martyred. And if Trump wins in November, which seems likely, he will just pardon himself. Trust me, he will find a way to do it.

On the other hand, if Trump is acquitted in any of the cases before the election, in his mind and the minds of his base, it will vindicate what he has been saying about being unfairly prosecuted.

So, while Trump’s cases are grinding their way through the legal system and Republican primary voters are voting for him, it’s time to make up our scorecards for Trump’s Veepstakes. There are a lot of contenders and Trump has been keeping his preferences quiet, unusual for him.

Let’s take a look at some of the possible names that the pundits have throwing around.

Nikki Haley’s name has come up repeatedly. There is no way that Trump will choose her as his VP. He values loyalty above all else and she has been repeatedly disloyal to
