The Trump Zombie Shambles On
Why are Republicans dutifully following it?
What the hell is going on with the Republican Party? Judging from their actions, you would think that it’s 2020 and Trump is the president. They are in thrall to Trump. Again.
Why do I find this amazing? Because it wasn’t that long ago that Trump was all washed up. He was done. He lost the 2020 election. His insurrection failed. His Red Wave in the 2022 midterm elections never materialized. Trumpism was all but dead.
Then, by some miracle, his corpse was reanimated. It was indicted four times, charged with a total of 91 felonies. Ever since then, the Trump zombie has been shambling along the campaign trail, like a character from Stephen King’s “Pet Semetary.”
Even more amazing, the Trump zombie has been winning elections despite being barely coherent. Take, for instance, his rage at Nikki Haley. He mixed her up with Nancy Pelosi, criticized her attire, and lost his mind when she gave a gracious concession speech vowing to fight on before he had had a chance to give his victory speech.
But that wasn’t enough. Trump, even in zombie form, doesn’t defeat his foes, he destroys them. In this case, he has threatened her donors with exile from MAGA world if they continue to support her.
