The War on Trans People Has Begun
A federal judge has struck down protections for trans and gay students
Trump hasn’t even been sworn into office and already the war on trans students has begun. A federal judge in Kentucky (appointed by Bush Jr., cuz you know I keep track of that shit) has struck down new rules for Title IX imposed by Biden.
Title IX was created in 1972 to prevent discrimination against girls in education. The new rules expanded those protections to cover gender identity and sexual orientation.
The lawsuit challenging the new rules was brought by the states of Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. They were concerned with … you guessed it … transgender athletes in women’s sports.
Nothing in the rules says anything about transgender athletes in women’s sports. Hell, it doesn’t even mention bathrooms. Th rules were about discrimination and sexual assault. But you know the MAGA morons. They’re terrified that the libs are coming for their women.
The judge ruled against the administration saying:
“The entire point of Title IX is to prevent discrimination based on sex — throwing gender identity into the mix eviscerates the statute and renders it largely meaningless.”
