The Wife Of New Jersey’s Governor is Running For the U.S. Senate
There is more than nepotism at play here
Oh, God. She’s writing about New Jersey politics again. Stick around, though. I’m sure that you will find this one entertaining and not a little outrageous. Remember, New Jersey is the home of Sen. Bob Menendez, of the gold bars, envelopes stuffed with cash, and embroidered jackets.
Just to give you a taste of what I’m about to tell you, this is actually Menendez’s SECOND corruption trial. Way back in 2017, he was tried on corruption charges for accepting vacations and gifts from a wealthy donor. That trial resulted in a hung jury. New Jerseyans, who are either incredibly forgiving or incredibly gullible, obligingly re-elected him in 2018.
Menendez is up for re-election in 2024 and a plethora of Democrats are challenging him. Including Tammy Murphy, the wife of New Jersey governor, Phil Murphy.
Tammy is running as a Democrat, but she used to be a Republican. She voted in Republican primaries (New Jersey has closed primaries) as recently as 2014. She voted Republican while her husband was the finance chairman of the Democratic National Committee. She even voted Republican while hubby was Obama’s ambassador to Germany.
