Trouble in DOGE Land
It’s the battle of the egos
Ever since Trump appointed Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to head up his cost cutting measures, named DOGE for Department of Government Efficiency, I’ve been quietly wondering how two wealthy entrepreneurs with enormous egos would be able to work together.
Before I get into that, can I just point out that this “department” isn’t even a real department and there is nothing efficient about government? I know that they wanted to name it after their favorite cryptocurrency, but surely two smart men like that could see the oxymoron in “government efficiency” in the name that they chose.
Okay, back to my topic du jour. Turns out my concerns were valid and there has been trouble in paradise. The two titanic egos have been clashing. And while both also managed to piss off the Big Man with their deriding of the abilities of American workers, Musk came out of the dust-up on top thanks to his foresight in contributing $250 million to Trump’s campaign and taking up residence in a cottage on the grounds of Mar-a-Lago just steps from the center of the MAGA universe.
Ramaswamy had neither the foresight nor the wealth as Musk and ended up with the short end of the proverbial stick. Ramaswamy, by the way, isn’t quite a billionaire with only $960 million to his name. That’s one step away from the poor…
