Trump Cleans House at the DOJ
He is creating his own taxpayer-funded legal team
Just as we all expected, Trump is cleaning house at the DOJ, getting rid of every lawyer who worked on his criminal cases. I’m surprised he didn’t do this on his first day in office. Maybe he thought he could hide it in the blitz of executive orders that he has been signing.
The reason for the firings? According to the acting attorney general, James McHenry’ email to those he fired:
“Given your significant role in prosecuting the president, I do not believe that the leadership of the department can trust you to assist in implementing the president’s agenda faithfully.”
(Author Note: “leadership” = Trump)
McHenry’s spokesperson elaborated:
“Today, Acting Attorney General James McHenry terminated the employment of a number of DOJ officials who played a significant role in prosecuting President Trump. In light of their actions, the Acting Attorney General does not trust these officials to assist in faithfully implementing the President’s agenda. This action is consistent with the mission of ending the weaponization of government.”
Which, in the looking glass Trump world, means that Trump will be weaponizing the DOJ and doesn’t trust these officials to carry out…
