Trump Is Using Political Donations to Pay His Lawyers

He is redirecting a percentage of donations to his PAC

There’s good news and bad news in Trumpland. Here’s the good news: Trump is paying his legal bills. Shocker, I know. Trump is notorious for not paying his lawyers, his contractors, all the little people.

I’ve always had a sneaking suspicion that the real reason why Trump never pays his bills is that he is not nearly as wealthy as he claims to be. We got a sense of that when the New York attorney general, Letitia James, filed a suit against him for misrepresenting the value of his real estate holdings.

All that glitters is not gold in Trump’s world. He lived in his gilded penthouse in Trump Tower for decades without any major renovations. Even his jet, the ostentatiously named “Trump Force One” is more than 30 years old.

Now, with all of the indictments, both current and future, against him, Trump has no choice but to pay his legal team. Which brings us to the bad news.

Trump is using political donations to pay for his legal bills. Which may be illegal. It barely passes the sniff test.
