Trump & Musk Destroy USAID
Neither moron understands the importance of USAID
You can tell that Elon Musk is not from around here. That he arrived on our shores as an adult, already grown and educated and entirely out of touch with American history and culture. Why do I say that? Because he is encouraging Trump to dismantle one of our most important foreign policy initiatives, the USAID program.
USAID dates back to the 60s, 1961 to be precise. I remember the beginnings of USAID. Most importantly, I remember what the world was like back then.
We lived in a bipolar world with two super powers, America and Russia, competing to control the most land and the most countries. From an American perspective, it was a competition between the dark, Russia and communism, and the light, America and democracy.
There were plenty of wars between Russia and America, but the two super powers never directly confronted each other. That was too dangerous. Both were heavily armed with nuclear weapons. Instead, what were known as “proxy wars” were fought, wars between countries that were allied with Russia and America.
USAID was created not just to distribute aid around the world, but to win allies against Russia and its allies. Distributing aid to prevent famine, disease, corruption, and in more modern times…
